Aaron M. Draime, Jr.
Associate Director of Bands
Aaron Draime is thrilled to be joining the music staff at Sylvania Southview High School for the 2020-2021 school year. Mr. Draime will serve as associate director of all band functions within the Southview High School music department. As an integral member of a well-coordinated team of directors, his responsibilities will also include band direction for grades 6, 7 and 8 at Timberstone Junior High as well as grade 6 at Arbor Hills Junior High.
This is an exciting homecoming for Mr. Draime, as he graduated from Sylvania Southview in 1995. He then earned his bachelor of music from Bowling Green State University in 2000. As a balanced educator and musician, Mr. Draime has hosted marching band, solo/ensemble, and honors festival events for over 10 years and is a state level adjudicator within the Ohio Music Education Association’s (OMEA) marching band circuit. He is the Past President for OMEA’s seventh district (2009-2011), which encompasses a large portion of the greater Cleveland area, including Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake Counties. Noting his extensive background in the marching band idiom, Aaron is an alumnus and past brass instructor with the Toledo Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps (1997-2002). Mr. Draime joins us this year after working with Riverside Local Schools, a suburban district in the Cleveland area. Past schools and school district’s that Mr. Draime has directed in include Lakewood St. Edward High School, Beachwood City Schools, Marion City Schools and Swanton Local Schools. Mr. Draime, his wife Lindsay (also a band director) and their two cats Mia and Milo are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first child, Weston, later this summer!
