Mr. Logston has been a pageantry arts consultant, designer, and instructor serving music programs and affiliated industry since 1989, advising in areas as diverse as program analysis and long-range strategic planning to instruction, leadership, as well as designing and arranging literally hundreds of award winning marching band shows.
Mr. Logston has been extensively involved in the drum corps and bugle corps activity, serving as Executive Director/CEO of the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps, Inc. from Rockford/Loves Park, Illinois. During his tenure, the Phantom Regiment world-class corps achieved its first, long sought after DCI World Championship, re-organized its feeder corps into the DCI Division III Medalist Phantom Legion, and produced a WGI Finalist Winter Indoor Percussion Ensemble.
Prior to Mr. Logston’s time with the Phantom Regiment, he served as a member of the instructional staff of The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps from Rosemont, Illinois. During his involvement with The Cavaliers, the corps took top honors by winning the DCI World Championships, garnered many high visual trophies, and took numerous top percussion honors.
Additional notable groups that Mr. Logston has worked with include the University of Kentucky Indoor Drumline, Plymouth-Canton High School Marching Band, and the Aimachi Marching Band from Nagoya, Japan.
Mr. Logston also served as the Director of the Maumee Indoor Percussion from Maumee, Ohio for 25 years. While serving as Director, Maumee achieved five WGI Percussion World Finalist appearances, as well as medaling at numerous state and regional competitions. Additionally, he serves as a Percussion Specialist, working with both high school and middle school students, with numerous Ohio school instrumental music programs. This includes Southview High School, Northview High School, Rossford Schools, and previously at Perrysburg Schools, while also directing the Perrysburg Indoor Drumline.
Mr. Logston has also been a Marketing/Product Consultant to the Drillmaster Corporation, the developer of the world’s first patented marching shoe. He has served on the DCI Board of Directors, WGI Percussion Advisory Committee Board, as well as the planning and curriculum committee of DCI’s Director’s College. He is a founding member and Past-President of the Board of Directors of the Northern Ohio Indoor Percussion Association (NOIPA).
Mr. Logston enjoys serving as an adjudicator at music festivals and competitions throughout the year, including adjudicating events sponsored by USBands, and the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA).
Mr. Logston attended Bowling Green State University, where he majored in Music Education with dual emphasis in Percussion and Euphonium studies, and served on the Student Advisory Committee to the Dean of the College of Musical Arts.
