Emily Kelley
Director of Bands

Emily Kelley is serving her third year as the Director of Bands at Southview High School, and is in her ninth year teaching. In her tenure, Mrs. Kelley’s bands have received numerous superior ratings and experienced successful trips to OMEA State level events. Additionally, she is a woodwind technician and leadership coordinator for competitive marching bands in the Toledo area, and is an active clinician on ensemble leadership development.

Mrs. Kelley holds a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University, where she was the drum major for three years. She earned her Master’s degree in Music Education from The University of Michigan. As an active member of the Ohio Music Education Association, Mrs. Kelley co-chairs the District 1 High School Honors Band and hosts the District 1 Large Group Adjudicated Event. Mrs. Kelley has been featured at the Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference providing clinics on inclusion of students with exceptionalities in instrumental music ensembles. In addition, Mrs. Kelley is President of the Bowling Green State University Alumni Band Society and sits on the Board for BeInstrumental, a toledo-based non-profit that strives to ensure everyone has access to music education.

In her free time, Mrs. Kelley enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with her incredibly supportive family and husband, Justin.
