The Cougar Musician of the Week is senior Abby Kim who is the Concertmaster of the Southview Chamber Strings. Abby has been playing violin for thirteen years and currently studies with Vasile Beluska. She has been selected to participate in numerous honors orchestras throughout her high school career and has performed with the OMEA All-State Orchestra in both 2019 and 2020. In addition, Abby has earned superior ratings on class A solos at the OMEA Solo & Ensemble event every year, and she also holds the position of Concertmaster of the Toledo Symphony Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. She contributes to the Southview music department as an active leader, holding the positions of both Orchestra President and President of the SV Tri-M Music Honor Society. Director Megan Fitzpatrick says that, “Abby is one of the best violinists I have had the pleasure of directing. Her commitment to music is evident not only in her playing, but also in the amount of time she dedicates to her leadership positions.” Outside of orchestra, Abby is also a member of the Southview Tennis Team and also enjoys playing Lacrosse. Next year Abby will be attending Cornell University and will be studying chemical engineering. Congratulations Abby!
