The Cougar Musician of the Week is senior Alexander Steenrod who is a member of the Chamber Strings violin section. Alexander has been playing violin for 6 years and currently studies with Sonsoles Llodra. Alexander has performed with numerous select groups such as the Greater Toledo International Youth Orchestra, the Toledo Symphony Symphonic Youth Orchestra, the Toledo Symphony School of Music, and the BGSU Summer Music Camp Orchestras. Alexander has also served as a section leader and librarian in the Southview Orchestras and the historian of the SVHS Tri-M Music Honor Society. Director Megan Fitzpatrick says that, “There are some students who do not fail to brighten the worlds of those around them, and Alexander is one of those students. His willingness to help in any way, along with his enthusiasm and high level of musicianship make him an outstanding leader in our program.” Outside of orchestra, Alexander is also active in Speech and Debate, Theater, Student Senate, and his job at Nothing Bundt Cakes. In addition, he carries a GPA of 4.5 and plans on going into international relations after graduation. Congratulations Alexander!
