The Cougar Musician of the Week is senior violinist Amaan Omer. Amaan is a member of the first violin section of the Southview Chamber Strings and has been playing the violin since 6th grade at Timberstone. In the past, he has also held the role of 2nd violin section leader and has been in charge of running sectionals and mentoring younger students. Amaan has also been selected to perform with groups outside of school such as the OMEA District 1 Honors Orchestra for the past four years as well as the Greater Toledo International Youth Orchestra. In addition to music performance, Amaan has also served as the secretary for the Southview Tri-M Music Honor Society. Director Megan Fitpatrick describes Amaan as, “a driven, genuine young man who contributes to the ensemble not only through his musicianship but also through his outstanding enthusiasm and leadership qualities.” Outside of orchestra, Amaan has been extremely successful as a leader in Speech and Debate, Mock Trial, Student Senate, NHS, and Tennis. He also enjoys drawing, art, and volunteering at the local food drive as hobbies and currently carries a 4.59 GPA. He plans on pursuing a career in healthcare management after graduation.
